Praise Him During the Wait
My hot husband is starting school soon. This is a huge sacrifice and we need to organize our financial situation. On top of all that, we have to save up $900 for him to renew his Green Card next March. Anyways, we’re in a pickle. Well, the Church we go to strongly encourages self-reliance. We wanted to speak with the Bishop of our congregation yesterday to receive more information on the financial classes that the Church provides. During the first hour of church we sing, pray, remember Christ’s sacrifice, and listen to members of the Church share messages. Despite how great the messages were yesterday, I could NOT focus. I was so anxious to speak with the Bishop and receive answers about what to do in our financial situation. Finally, I said a prayer and asked the Lord to help calm me down. I heard in my mind, “Praise Him during the wait.” I think the Holy Ghost conveyed it like this because if all I would’ve heard was, “Patience,” I would have gotten my panties in a wad. Good thing the good Lord probs said before conveying that message, “Bless her heart, she needs some specific help.” Hearing that I should specifically praise Him during our wait helped me not to just sit during the rest of the service and “patiently” watch the clock tick. I definitely struggled at first to praise the Lord. It’s much easier to blame others when you’re going through difficult things and have a pity-party. All of these negative feelings caused me to feel so unworthy to even be at church with my hard heart. Well, I said another prayer and asked for help to praise Him. Almost instantly, I started thinking about all of the blessings I have in my life. I thought about the Atonement of Christ, the gift of having the family and friends that I have, my health, and then I thought about how our loving Savior doesn’t just give us counsel and abandon us. Instead, He gives us the counsel and holds our hand while we try to follow it. So I learned two powerful things within ten minutes (actually the Lord has probs been trying to teach me this for the past 20 something years) : 1) Praise Him during the wait. If you don’t, you’ll miss out on so many of the good things that are in your life at that time. 2) When we want to sincerely apply the Lord’s counsel to our lives, He holds our hand and helps us follow Him. THANK GOODNESS OUR GOD IS NOT A COMMANDING AND ABANDONING GOD! I like all capsss because that’s how I can joyfully shout this message on the internet. Well have a great day y’all!
